Breastfeeding and Work : Let’s Make it Work!
1-7 August 2015
Today marks the start of World Breastfeeding Week. It’s not just a week of celebrating breastfeeding, but seven full days where individuals and groups around the world rally to empower women to claim the right for both her and her baby to breastfeed.
The theme this year is “Breastfeeding and Work: Let’s Make it Work!” with the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) calling for:
“concerted global action to support women to combine breastfeeding and work. Whether a woman is working in the formal, non-formal or home setting, it is necessary that she is empowered in claiming her and her baby’s right to breastfeed.”
Our breastfeeding stories
Parent Talk Australia wholeheartedly supports breastfeeding and work. Many of our writers have been able to successfully breastfeed while employed in formal employment. Some of our writers have not had good experiences and weaned early. Some never had the opportunity. Over the next week you will have the chance to read their journeys.

To celebrate the week, we are so excited to have partnered with Ergobaby to release our first ever Parent Talk Australia giveaway. Ergobaby are strong supporters of breastfeeding, even offering a breastfeeding friendly workplace in their office here in Australia.
Many of you will be familiar with the Ergobaby carrier which allows you to carry bub fairly effortlessly on your hip, back and front (and outward facing with the new Ergobaby 360 carrier).
You’ll be pleased to hear about their latest release: the new Ergobaby Natural Curve Nursing Pillow. It intuitively positions baby in the ideal tummy-to-tummy position for healthy latch and provides comfort while feeding. It’s a pretty revolutionary design and unlike many of the other nursing pillows we’ve tried. (It’s currently available exclusively at Baby Bunting if you want to test it out).
Not only will you get a chance to win one of these fabulous prizes, you’ll also join our mailing list for our Top 5 Weekly round up – only the most popular posts on our Facebook page, once a week.
